Confidence is key to Entrepreneurship

tarting your own business is hard work. You put yourself in a position where you are now solely responsible if you sink or swim. Even if you have business partners the fate of your company rests on your back. This business is your baby, and as parents of this baby if it grows to be successful you will be congratulated and praised. If it doesn't, you are the bad parent who didn't do enough.

Now having your own business can be very rewarding. You are your own boss, you can have freedom once you pass the initial hurdles, and it can make you very wealthy. There is tremendous upside to being an entrepreneur.

We are also in an era where self-employment and entrepreneurship are praised and encouraged. There are workshops, seminars, books, YouTube video, and podcasts. If you want to be inspired to become a business owner there is no shortage of media for you.

If you ever thought about entrepreneurship, you have probably attended a seminar or read a book on the topic. But you are not the only one. Seminars and webinars are filled with hopeful people looking to find the answers or a quick way to start a business (and become a millionaire). Amazon has made it easy to get a copy of any book ever written and with the click of a button you and thousands of people have helped to push many of these success books to the top of the best sellers list.

With everyone reading and attending events on entrepreneurship, you would assume that all of these people are opening businesses left and right. What I find, however, is everyone loves to talk about it, but very few people take the jump and actually do it. Out of the few people who do take the risk, 80% will quit before they become successful.

But what stops us from taking the first step? I believe one of the biggest things that stop people from taking that leap and sticking with it is confidence in their own ability.

There is definitely a huge fear factor that goes along with starting your own business. There is so much that can possibly go wrong, but confidence in yourself can help you overcome the fear.

You see when you have confidence in yourself, you are able to believe in your vision, you trust your instincts and no matter what comes your way you know you have the ability to overcome it.

Now a lot of hopeful business owners will have the confidence to jump forward and start the journey towards owning a successful business. While they did have the confidence to start, they did not have the confidence to continue. To often hopeful entrepreneur fall Into the get rich quick mentality, but when roadblocks are placed in their path they jump ship and return to their 9-5s.

Times will get hard as you build your brand. There will be roadblocks and problems, but you have to continue to have confidence in your ability to see things through.
